Bett2020 100
In this series I will be writing about my experiences of Bett2020 – products, impressions – in vignettes of exactly 100 words. Why 100 words? Because I wanted to see whether or not it was possible. I will try where appropriate to provide links to further information.
Edmentum provides a virtual school as a way of enabling schools (and school districts) to provide a full curriculum given the teacher shortages in key subjects. Each student is allocated to a teacher, and as well as lessons there is 24/7 support. This sounds like a great idea, but I have a couple of reservations.
One is that a school I inspected some years ago provided students with an online course, but they failed to engage much with it.
Secondly, at the moment the curriculum provided is aligned with the USA's Common Core. It might be worth bookmarking though.
